5 Days Hiking and Canoeing Safari in Tanzania

Day 1 - Depart to Mikumi and an afternoon game drive
You'll be picked up from your hotel in Dar es Salaam bright and early, around 6:30 a.m., to start an exciting day ahead. We'll then embark on a scenic 5-6 hour drive to the magnificent Mikumi National Park.
Once we reach Mikumi, a delicious hot lunch awaits you at the park's charming restaurant. Replenished and ready for adventure, we'll head out for an afternoon game drive until the breathtaking sunset paints the sky.
During our incredible game drive in Mikumi National Park, get ready to be amazed by the diverse bird species that fill the air and the spectacular sight of graceful giraffes, majestic buffalos, and mighty elephants that roam these lands. If luck is on our side, we might even catch glimpses of lions, leopards, and the elusive African wild dogs.
As we continue our safari, keep your eyes peeled for an abundance of zebras, hippos, hartebeests, wildebeests, impalas, warthogs, elands, and antelopes. The park is teeming with life, providing you with endless opportunities for awe-inspiring wildlife encounters.
After an unforgettable day, we'll return to our accommodations in the late evening for a satisfying dinner. You'll have a choice between the cozy Vamos Hotel or the welcoming Tanswiss Lodge, where you can check-in and settle in for a restful night. Both lunch and dinner are included, ensuring you have a worry-free experience.
Day 2 - A full day game drive at Mikumi National Park
Start your day with an early breakfast and then embark on an exciting full-day adventure at Mikumi National Park. Don't forget to bring your packed lunch boxes as we'll be exploring the park until sundown, spotting a wide variety of incredible animals along the way. One of the highlights of the park is the magnificent Mkata river floodplain, where you'll be delighted by the sight of numerous animals such as elephants, buffalos, zebras, giraffes, wild dogs, impala, and a vibrant array of bird species.
As the evening approaches, we'll head back and you can relish a delicious hot dinner whenever you feel ready. Afterward, enjoy a comfortable night's stay at either Vamos Hotel or Tanswiss Lodge. Remember, your breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all taken care of. So, get ready for an unforgettable wildlife experience while we handle the rest!
Day 3 - Depart to Ifakara for canoeing safari at Kilombero River
After breakfast, depart to Ifakara, which takes around four-hour drive, with packed lunch boxes on your way to Kilombero River for the canoeing safari. During the canoeing safari, you will also have a chance of spotting spectacular river bird species wandering around the beautiful scenery of Kilombero, and know how the Wandamba tribe (the people of the Kilombero Valley) live and fish traditionally.
Drive back to Udzungwa in the late evening for your hot dinner and spend the night at the beautiful and amazing Udzungwa Falls Lodge. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included.
Day 4 - Hiking to Udzungwa Mountains and the popular Sanje Waterfalls
After an early breakfast, go hiking through the beautiful forests and landscape scenery of Udzungwa with packed lunch boxes, along with a professional guide. On the way, you will learn about various trees used for traditional healing, learn about bird life, and then you will be heading towards the top for a great and an amazing view of the famous Sanje Waterfalls.
On top of the waterfall, you can see a great view of the enormous Kilombero Sugarcane Valley, one of Tanzania’s biggest sugarcane plantations. Back in the evening, get a hot dinner, and spend the overnight at Udzungwa Falls Lodge. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included.
Day 5 - Depart to Dar es Salaam
After breakfast, depart to Dar es Salaam. Enjoy your lunch break on the way, and you will arrive at Dar es Salaam in the early evening. Nyasi Adventure will take you back to the hotel or catch your flight back home. Breakfast and lunch are included.
